* HISTORY OF FORMATION AND DEVELOPMENT

In March 1991, the 6th Congress of the Party Committee of Quy Nhon University of Education and the Trade Union Congress in December 1991 agreed on a policy of innovation and dynamism in all activities, aiming to create a fundamental transformation for the university. One key aspect of this reform was the diversification of training objectives and programs to meet socio-economic development demands of the region. This served as a foundation for transforming the university into a multidisciplinary institution.

Based on this orientation, the university collaborated with Da Nang University of Technology to train Electrical and Electronics engineers in the 1991–1992 academic year. It also cooperated with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities – Vietnam National University, Hanoi to offer Law programs, and with the National Economics University to offer Business Administration programs starting from 1992–1993.

From 1993–1994, the university further collaborated with Hanoi University of Science and Technology to provide programs in Electronics and Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Organic and Petrochemical Technology, and Business Management.

In June 1996, the Technology – Economics – Law Division was established to manage these joint programs. Due to expansion and changes in training processes, in July 1998, this division was separated into the Technology Division and the Economics – Law Division. From 1996 to 2002, cooperation was expanded with Hanoi University of Science and Technology in fields such as Electronics–Informatics and Environmental Technology, and with Da Nang University of Technology in Civil and Industrial Construction.

On March 27, 2002, the Ministry of Education and Training issued Decision No. 1247/QĐ-BGD&ĐT-TCCB to officially establish the Faculty of Engineering & Technology, marking a significant milestone in its development. From an initial staff of 5 lecturers, the Faculty has grown to 56 staff members, including Associate Professors, PhDs, and Master’s degree holders. Thousands of graduates are now working nationwide, demonstrating the continuous efforts of both faculty and students.

Currently, the Faculty has 4 departments with a total of 56 staff members, including 2 Associate Professors, 20 PhDs, 31 Masters, 2 Engineers, and 1 Bachelor. Most staff members are young, dynamic, dedicated, and well-trained in their respective technical fields. To date, the Faculty has trained 8,519 engineers in Electrical Engineering, Electronics–Telecommunications, Civil Engineering, and related disciplines, as well as 125 Master’s graduates in Electrical Engineering and Telecommunications.

The Faculty operates 12 laboratories and practical workshops, supported by various national projects such as: Electrical Engineering Laboratory Enhancement Project (2010), Soil Mechanics and Engineering Geology Laboratory Project (2010), Construction Materials Laboratory Project (2010), Electronics–Telecommunications Laboratory Project (2011), Smart Grid and Simulation Laboratory Project (2018), and Robotics and IoT Laboratory Project (2021). These modern facilities effectively support training, research, and technology transfer.

Teaching materials and references are continuously updated to meet the needs of teaching, learning, and research.

As of December 2022, faculty members have completed 11 ministerial-level, 61 university-level, and 40 faculty-level research projects. A total of 178 international and 286 domestic scientific papers have been published. These research activities have significantly contributed to training and local socio-economic development. Faculty and students have also received numerous awards, including national and ministerial-level achievements in scientific research, innovation, and competitions.

The Faculty has been honored with various awards, including one Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister (2002), 13 from the Ministry of Education and Training and the Chairman of Binh Dinh Provincial People’s Committee, 5 from the Provincial Party Committee, and multiple awards from youth and student organizations.
