The Enhancing Capacity in Condition-based Maintenance of Wind Energy Project (ECOWIND), funded by the European Union, includes Quy Nhon University as one of its consortium members alongside several international partners, including the University of Agder (Norway), Tallinn University of Technology (Estonia), Chiang Mai University (Thailand), Prince of Songkla University (Thailand), and Can Tho University (Vietnam). The project aims to strengthen capacity in education, research, and technology transfer in the field of wind energy, promote staff and student exchanges, and update and improve training curricula for higher education institutions and relevant stakeholders. The Faculty of Engineering and Technology plays a key role in implementing the project’s work packages at Quy Nhon University. Dr. Le Tuan Ho from the Electrical Engineering program serves as the Local Coordinator of Quy Nhon University.
As part of Work Package 4, and following previous online training sessions, Quy Nhon University organized a specialized training course on “Fault Diagnosis Skills in Wind Power Plants” from June 6–7, 2026. The course aimed to equip participants with methods for identifying different types of faults and developing fault diagnosis skills using artificial intelligence and digital twin technologies in wind power plants. During this training program, the University welcomed leading experts from Tallinn University of Technology, Estonia, including Research Prof. Dr. Toomas Vaimann, Prof. Dr. Anton Rassõlkin, and Prof. Dr. Ants Kallaste.
In addition, the training course was attended by managers and operational engineers from several companies, including Central Wind Power Joint Stock Company, XCE Power Plant Operation and Management Joint Stock Company, Asia Wind Service Joint Stock Company, Phuong Mai Wind Power Joint Stock Company, Fujiwara Binh Dinh Co., Ltd., Viet Viet Renewable Energy Joint Stock Company, GreenYellow Vietnam Co., Ltd., as well as lecturers from the Electrical Engineering program of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology.
The training course served not only as a forum for academic exchange, experience sharing, and strengthening collaboration among educational institutions and enterprises, but also contributed to updating participants on advanced technologies in the operation, monitoring, and maintenance of wind power plants. The program supports the development of high-quality human resources for the green energy transition and sustainable regional development. Participants also had the opportunity to discuss practical operational challenges faced by their companies with European experts in order to identify suitable solutions to real-world problems.
