  3. Potential of CIGS solar cells in green energy transition

On the morning of December 13, 2025, at the Faculty of Engineering & Technology - Quy Nhon University, a specialized seminar titled "CIGS Cell Manufacturing Technology and Localization Potential" presented by Dr. Tran Thanh Thai was successfully held, with the attendance of lecturers, students, and enterprise representatives.

The report provided in-depth and updated content, including:

  • Comparison of CIGS thin-film technology with traditional silicon solar cells.
  • Modern manufacturing processes (evaporation, sputtering + selenization, and solution-based technology).
  • Localization potential of CIGS technology in Vietnam, especially in the context of energy transition requirements and carbon neutrality.

The seminar took place in a lively atmosphere with many questions, academic discussions, and practical perspectives, demonstrating a strong interest in next-generation clean energy technology.

CIGS solar cells—with high efficiency, ultra-thin absorption layers, and the capability for architectural integration—are opening significant opportunities for Building-Integrated Photovoltaics (BIPV), green buildings, and smart cities.

We sincerely thank all teachers, students, and guests for accompanying us, spreading the spirit of innovation, and acting toward a sustainable energy future.

Let's join hands to reduce CO_2 emissions, promote the application of renewable energy, and move closer to the 2050 carbon neutrality goal!
